Our Story

At EmeralDreams Palau, we believe that sustainable tourism can create livelihoods for people, preserve local cultures, and help conserve life on our planet.

We are a family-owned social enterprise dedicated to advancing sustainable tourism, ocean conservation, entrepreneurship, and community development in the Republic of Palau.

Our name tells our story. The word "Emeral" in Palauan means real, authentic, and genuine. Those values are at the heart of everything we do because we believe tourism should remain authentic to our people, our culture, our environment, and our dreams for future generations.

Founded by Irene Olkeriil, whose entrepreneurial journey began at just 13 years old, EmeralDreams has grown from a family business into a collection of locally owned enterprises serving both visitors and the Palauan community. Over time, our work expanded beyond accommodations into educational and conservation tours, consulting, media, coworking spaces, and community advocacy, all connected by a shared commitment to preserving our Pristine. Paradise. Palau while creating opportunities for local people.

Today, EmeralDreams brings together a diverse portfolio of initiatives, including family-operated accommodations, Palau Blue Tours, sustainable tourism consulting, destination storytelling, educational and wellness tours, digital resident services, and the DOUREOR CoWorking Space. We also produce documentaries and travel guides, including the award-winning short film Palau, An Ocean Inheritance, and the Palau Sustainable Travel Guide, helping visitors experience Palau responsibly while supporting locally owned businesses and conservation initiatives.

As a mother-and-daughter team, Irene Olkeriil and Ivory Vogt combine decades of experience in entrepreneurship, sustainable tourism, climate policy, storytelling, and community development. Together, we collaborate with governments, NGOs, educational institutions, businesses, community groups, and local entrepreneurs to demonstrate how tourism can become a force for environmental conservation, cultural preservation, education, and economic opportunity.

Whether you're staying in one of our accommodations, joining a cultural or conservation tour, watching our film, or partnering with us on a community initiative, every experience contributes to a larger mission: protecting Palau's natural and cultural heritage while empowering the people who call these islands home.
